MallopolisShopping Mall Tycoon
A top-down shopping mall management game for PC and Mac.
A mall tycoon game about bringing a dead mall back
You buy a dying 1980s mall for almost nothing. The fountain is dry, half the gates are down, and the department store at the end of the concourse is holding its closing sale. You pour new floors, wire the lights, open the food court and hire the janitors, the security and the guest services.
Then you paint the empty floor into store zones, and the shops come to you. Every storefront is a tenant with a name, a tier and a reason to stay, grow or leave, and every shopper who walks your concourse carries a list, a budget and a bladder.
You're the landlord
The shops are other people's businesses. You set the rent and approve the big deals; they decide whether your mall is worth it.
- Tenants grow from pop-ups to local shops, regional chains and flagships
- A flagship knocks through to the empty unit next door, if you say yes
- Rent levels per kind of shop, and rent relief for a tenant who's struggling
- Struggling shops tell you why; leave it too long and the gate comes down on a "For Lease" sign

Paint the zones, and the shops choose you
Paint the floor along the concourse, and tenants apply where there's demand for their kind of shop.
- Seven kinds of zone: Food, Fashion, Hardware and Home, Electronics, Entertainment, Services and Kiosks
- Demand that shows its reasons, so you know what the mall is missing
- Divide and merge units to fit a pretzel cart or a flagship

Follow the foot traffic
A mall lives on the people who walk past each storefront. The layout is the economy.
- Anchor stores at the ends: a department store, a supermarket, a cinema
- The food court, the fountain and the entrances pull shoppers along the concourse
- A parking lot that fills up on a Saturday
- Later, a second floor with escalators, elevators and stairs

Keep the lights on
Behind the storefronts, the mall is a machine, and you run it.
- Power, water and air conditioning, with lenses that show where each one reaches
- Janitors, security guards, maintenance and guest services
- Deliveries through the service corridors, out of the shoppers' sight
- Shoplifters, fights and lost kids for your security to handle

Questions
What kind of game is Mallopolis?
A top-down construction and management game: a tycoon game about running a shopping mall. You build the mall and decide where each kind of shop may go; the tenants and the shoppers do the rest, and you keep it all running.
Which platforms will it be on?
Windows and macOS, on Steam.
When does it come out?
Mallopolis is early in development, so there's no date yet, and the details on this page may change. Its Steam page will be linked here as soon as it opens.
Will there be a campaign and a sandbox?
That's the plan: a campaign about bringing one mall back from the dead, chapter by chapter, and a sandbox to build the mall you want, with the busy days of the year along the way, Black Friday included.
Is it like Pump City?
It's from the same studio and plays in the same top-down way, but the place is different, and so is your job. In Pump City you run every counter yourself; in Mallopolis you're the landlord, and the shops are run by their own tenants.
Who makes Mallopolis?
Mile Marker Games, an independent studio making top-down management games for PC and Mac.
